Fourth of July Road and Business Closures in Santa Cruz County

Plan ahead for the festivities with our guide to what will be closed in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Scotts Valley and Watsonville.

July 4: a day of honoring our nation through parades, partying, fireworks, and many business and road closures. Below is a list of closures that will occur in Santa Cruz County on Independence Day.

SANTA CRUZ
•Vehicle access to the Seabright neighborhood will be restricted to residents and patrons of Chardonnay Sailing Charters and Aldo’s restaurant, all who will have to show proof of residency or a business voucher, from 7 p.m. to Midnight. However, there will be unrestricted pedestrian and bicycle access in the area.
•The Murray Street Bridge will be closed between Seabright Ave. and 7th Ave. Access to the city will be off 7th Ave. through Capitola Road.
•Eastbound East Cliff Drive at Ocean Street will be closed.

Detours:
•Southbound Ocean Street into westbound San Lorenzo Boulevard
•Eastbound San Lorenzo Blvd. into northbound Ocean Street
•Southbound Buena Vista Ave. into westbound East Cliff Drive
•Southbound Seabright Ave into westbound Murray Street
•Westbound Hiawatha into westbound East Cliff Drive

CAPITOLA
•Lake Avenue
•Seventh Avenue south of Eaton Street
•Roads south of East Cliff Drive between 12th and 17th avenues
•East Cliff Drive at 17th Avenue
•East Street, El Camino del Mar and Seacliff Drive north of Santa Cruz Avenue
•The Esplanade and Beach Drive in Rio del Mar
•Marea Avenue, Estrella Avenue and Playa Boulevard at San Andreas Road in La Selva Beach
•Margarita Drive at the 'Y' intersection in La Selva Beach
•Davenport Landing Road

SCOTTS VALLEY
•Scotts Valley Drive (which is the route for a parade to begin at 3 p.m.)

WATSONVILLE
•St. Patrick's Church at Main Street and Freedom Boulevard between First and Main streets (where a parade begins at 2 p.m.)

ALL CITIES
Public libraries, post offices, and most major business will be closed. In Watsonville, the Target will remain open. The Capitola Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Scotts Valley will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
