'Occupy Our Homes': Royal Oaks House Battle Continues

One family struggling to save its home from foreclosure has gone public with the its fight in hopes public support will convince the bank to renegotiate the terms of the mortage, according to local media reports.

Brandie and Edwin Hannon are asking for a loan modificiation after the economic downturn coupled with Edwin's medical issues left the family unable to make their payments.

She described their plight on Occupy Our Homes, a website dedicated to helping people start campaigns. Thursday night, the Hannons had 209 of 300 supporters needed to get prominent space on the website.

The couple told Central Coast News they've lived in the house for 14 years and that the bank, Wells Fargo, has refused to help them avoid foreclosure through loan modification. The bank refuted that claim in a statement saying "no options were available to maintain home ownership," the TV news station reported.

The family is defying a court ordered eviction issued last month, according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
