Police Blotter: Repair Shop Cited For Violation

The following arrest information was provided by the District Attorney's Office, the Watsonville Police Department and the Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Watsonville auto repair business was ticketed Thursday for not having the proper Workers Compensation Insurance coverage for employees, the District Attorney's Office reported.

L&M Auto Repair at 27 First St. reportedly had not followed the state standards for insuring employees and D.A.'s Office inspectors caught the violation during a compliance check.

Monitoring Workers Compensation Insurance coverage is one ongoing effort of D.A.'s Office inspectors. Workers Compensation Insurance is required by state law for businesses who have employees and proof of coverage must be posted in the business.

Businesses that do not carry the insurance can undercut prices of the legitimate businesses because they have less overhead, according to the D.A.'s Office.
