Red Cross Offers Holiday Safety Tips

1. Prepare your car. Build an emergency kit and include blankets or sleeping bags, jumper cables, a fire extinguisher, compass and road maps, shovel, tire repair kit and pump, extra clothing, flares, and a tow rope.

2. Drive safely. Tell family and friends your destination, travel route and approximate arrival time. Check your tires’ air pressure and fill the windshield fluid. Avoid distractions such as using your cell phone. Use AAA’s free Tipsy Tow if you need a ride home on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve.

3. Stay healthy. Stay home if you are sick and avoid spreading germs by washing your hands with soap and water, or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

4. Keep your home fire-safe. If you are leaving the kitchen, turn off the stove. Never use a stove or oven to heat your home. Monitor portable heaters and fireplaces and install smoke alarms. Clean your furnace. Make sure furniture isn’t blocking heat vents. Close off rooms you’re not using and turn off the heat in those rooms.

5. Learn CPR. We recommend at least one person in every household should take first aid and CPR/AED training. Visitwww.redcross.org/training for details and to register.

No, mine had my City Council Rep's picture on it - Trina Coffman-Gomez - along with her homeRead More number....hmmmmm, this sounds a little underhanded as in "bottom feeder."
Sylvia Lazo May 24, 2013 at 04:52 pm
Did yours have his picture on it?

Oh, is that who that came from, I got a pink one. I agree with Sweetcakes: it has nothing to do withRead More "city management perks" (although some anti-union people may call it a perk) but city employees being able to cash in their earned saved leave is legal if it's part of their labor contract. I thought Daniel Dodge was a labor advocate/activist/leader, so much for that - hear that SEIU? Guess we'll just have to line the parrot cage with this one too ;) hope I don't get bit.

I used my yes on T flier to line the birdcage. It pissed my parrot off so much, he bit me!

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
