Nomination Period Opens for Annual California Peace Award

(SALINAS)— Assemblymember Luis A. Alejo (D-Salinas) is now accepting nominations for the 2013 California Peace Awards. Applications are available by request by emailing linda.gonzalez@asm.ca.gov. A PDF copy of the application can be found at http://www.asmdc.org/members/a30/press/nomination-period-opens-for-annua... . Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

Nominees must be residents of the 30th Assembly District who have, over the past year, significantly contributed to the promotion of peace in the community and who have not previously been recognized for their efforts. Ideal applicants have a strong record of volunteerism and noteworthy accomplishments in their efforts to stop violence and create a safer community.

The criteria for the nominees are as follows:
• Must live in the 30th Assembly District. Please go to www.assembly.ca.gov and click on "Find my district" to confirm eligibility.
• Not previously honored with the California Peace Award.
• Shown a strong track record of volunteerism or, if a paid employee, gone above and beyond their regular duties.

One nominee will be awarded the 30th Assembly District’s California Peace Award and honored at a ceremony taking place Tuesday, August 6, 2013 during National Night Out.

Luis Alejo represents the 30th District in the California State Assembly, which consists of San Benito County, the Salinas Valley, North Monterey County, South Santa Clara County and the city of Watsonville.
