Women’s Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres has a 30 year history in Santa Cruz County of providing advocacy and services to women and children affected by violence. Those services include court accompaniments, restraining order assistance, counseling, emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis line, outreach and education, and support groups. WCS~DdM is the only rape crisis center in Santa Cruz County and includes an emergency response team. All services are available in Spanish and English and are free or low cost.
Volunteers are a vital component to the agency’s ability to give survivors the support they need to heal. We are looking for males and females over the age of 18 who want to make a difference in their community.
Volunteers will receive 65 hours of in depth training to become a state certified Peer Counselor in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Upon completion of the training, volunteers are asked to complete a one-year service commitment to the agency at a minimum of 12 hours per week.
Our next training will begin October 12, 2013. This rewarding experience will give you the chance to meet new people, while becoming a part of this life changing movement
To be a part of this experience, please call Rocio Camargo at 831-288-2143 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
