Birding Festival Happens This Weekend
The annual Watsonville event highlights the diverse habitats and birds of the Monterey Bay.

The eighth annual festival spotlights the diverse habitats that ring the Monterey Bay. September marks the peak migratory season, making the sloughs, rivermouths and beaches around Watsonville one of the best birdwatching areas in the United States.
- There are talks, tours and exhibts daily from Thursday through Sunday. There is a full list of field trips here.
- Learn about Birding in Peru, the Rare Birds of California and hear from the man who inspired the comedy, The Big Year, starring Jack Black, during talks each evening.
- There are free Family Days bird walks on Saturday and Sunday.
- The Vendors Fair is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the fourth floor of the Civic Plaza building in Watsonville.
Birders can buy tickets online or at the various events.
