Walk to Stop the Silence: Join us in the fight to end child sexual abuse!

6th Annual Walk to Stop the Silence

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and encourage individuals and communities to support children and families.

Survivors Healing Center encourages families, service providers, churches, community members and law enforcement to come join us.  Join us in the fight to end child sexual abuse in our communities!   Take action and join our movement!  We invite community members to walk and raise funds to end child sexual abuse!  Go to our website: www.walktostopthesilence.org to sign up to be a walker or get more information about the walk.

Walkers will be entertained by the local dance troupe White Hawks Danza Azteca and local politicians will address the crowd, including Chief of Police Manny Solano, County Supervisor Greg Caput and Watsonville Mayor Eduardo Montesino.  There will be a raffle for the walkers and art activities for kids!

About the issue: “Child sexual abuse is a silent pandemic– with terrible consequences that wreak social and emotional havoc on children, adult survivors and society,” Approximately one in every three girls and one out of every six boys are sexually abused by the age of eighteen, (ACE Study 2005) and these are only the reported statistics.
