Get Out in Watsonville: Garden Art, a Nursery Mixer and More

A donation free-for-all, Thomas the Train and a garden art show can all be found this week in the Watsonville area.

 

Where/When: 688 Delta Way, Watsonville, CA, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Artists , Marcella Evensen, Tina Tucker and W. Downey Dye will be presenting their art in a beautiful garden setting. Spend an hour on your weekend and browse through the lovely artwork in the unique local setting.

Where/When: Watsonville Farmers Market, between Peck St. and Main St., Friday, 2:30- 4:30 pm. 

Why Go: Bring your unwanted, but usable stuff to the free-for-all and donate the items to someone in need. Clothing, videos, books, kitchen utensils, anything that you can spare will provide a cleaner closet for you and add an item to the thoughful cause.

Where/When: Workforce Santa Cruz County Career Center, 2045 40th Ave, Capitola, CA, Thursday, 3-4 pm. 

Why Go: Learn the “in's and outs” of applying for jobs with UC Santa Cruz. A representative of the university will explain the application process and answer questions. In this economy, any chance you get to network and learn more about possible job openings, the better.

Where/When: 2905 Freedom Blvd, Watsonville, CA 95076, Thursday, 5-7 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture at Alladin's Nursery. The nursery is partnering with Mesa Verde Gardens for the July mixer. Bring some business cards and enjoy the flowers, drinks and summer evening while you network!

Where/When: Roaring Camp Railroads 5355 Graham Hill Rd., Felton, CA 95018, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy the scenic Santa Cruz Mountains with the family and light up their eyes with the appearance of the popular children's television character Thomas the Train. The unique weekend escape is just up the road and is a great midday adventure for the entire family.

Where/When: Museum of Natural History, 1305 E. Cliff Dr., Santa Cruz, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Why Go: Local favorite, the Banana Slug String Band, will hit the stage for a fun-filled performance highlighting the animals in the temporary exhibit: Endangered Neighbors. The band will perform a morning show for all museum patrons. 

Pricing: $4 general, $2 seniors and free for members and youth under 18.
