Get Out in Watsonville: Holiday Festivities

Take your kids swimming, to the snow or enjoy the holiday events around town this weekend.

The holiday season is hopping in Watsonville and there's a whole host of festive events this weekend. Or, if you're just looking for a fun activity with your kids, check out a couple chances to play in the pool or in the snow.

All-Comers Swim Meet

When/Where 4 p.m. Friday, , 27 Sudden St, Watsonville

Why Go: Kids ages 6-17 can participate in a casual swim meet at the YMCA so long as they can swim one lap in the pool. Everyone gets a certificate for participating.

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, , 2601 E Lake Ave, Watsonville

Why Go: Crafts, gifts, antiques, collectibles, toys, wreaths and flowers will all be on sale. There will be tours of the model railroads and the Rodgers House. Parking is free.

Pricing: $3

Snow Day

When/Where: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, , Peck St & Union St, Watsonville

Why Go: A can of nonpersihable food will get kids out on the snow hill in the Plaza. It's a lot easier—and closer—than driving to Tahoe for the weekend. The man-made snow is there for about three hours, so don't miss it.

Pricing: A can of food.



When/Where: 1 p.m. Sunday, Bockius-Orr Home 332 E. Beach St., Watsonville, CA

Why Go: Celebrate the holiday season and enjoy a tour of the historical association grounds.

Pricing: Free, a donation of K-3rd grade story books for local school children and canned goods for the Second Harvest Food Bank is appreciated.

Corralitos Festival of Lights

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, , 33 Browns Valley Rd, Watsonville

Why Go: There will be arts, crafts and food vendors, as well as a performance by the Corralitos Community Church Christmas Choir at 1 p.m. and a tri-tip dinner served all afternoon by Boy Scout Troop 599. Santa is due in around 2 p.m.
