The holidays are over, but there's still goings-on around the county this weekend.

Let's be honest. January is a pretty tame month in the Pajaro Valley. Still, there are things going on in the area this weekend. Here are some options across the county.

Tour Elkhorn Slough

When/Where: 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 1700 Elkhorn Rd., Royal Oaks

Why go: The weather's been great. Why not join a knowledgable docent on a tour of the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve? There shouldn't be many tourists this time of year.

Why go: Bring your young children and together participate in free demonstration music classes of Music Together®, an Early Childhood Music Enrichment Program for infants, toddlers, and preschool children and their parents or caregivers.

When/Where: 7 p.m. Friday,  , 320 Cedar St, Santa Cruz

Why go: Start the New Year off right by supporting "Friends Outside", an organization that helps incarcerated people and their families connect by attending our very special show on Friday with Rita Hosking, Joshua Lowe and the amazing Jessica Marks at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center.

When/Where: Daily, 410 Capitola Ave., Capitola

Why go: Maybe you've already toured Watsonville's Agriculture History Project and the Pajaro Valley Historical Association. Increase your local knowledge and enjoy an afternoon near the beach. The Capitola Historical Museum maintains extensive collections of photographs and artifacts related to Capitola's history, and offers changing exhibits on the history and art of the area, as well as on special seasonal and topical themes.

Why go: . In the mean time, get your art in at the Gilroy Center for the Arts, where 12 Valle Del Sur Art Guild members are showing this weekend. Art on exhibit and for sale by 12 Valle del Sur Art Guild members.
