High Surf Warning Issued for Watsonville

National Weather Service advises of swells up to 21 feet.

Watsonville and the Central Coast will be impacted by high surf Thursday night through 3 p.m. Friday, according to a just-released warning statement by the National Weather Service.

Large “west to northwest swells” in excess of 21 feet will hit the coast, stated the advisory, issued at 9 p.m. Thursday.

The largest swells will occur overnight. Still, there will likely be strong rip currents and sneaker waves Friday, with possible minor flooding along the coast.

Friday carries a 50 percent chance of showers, with winds 11-15 miles per hour and as high as 20 miles per hour.
