Make the Market Your Dinner Destination

Prepared foods aplenty at the Watsonville Certified Farmers Market.

The Watsonville Certified Farmers Market is not just for fresh, seasonal produce.  It is also home to a whole array of prepared foods of various culinary and ethnic backgrounds.

Zena Foods of Seaside offers prepared foods with a Mediterranean influence. Hummus, feta cheese, olives and cous cous salad are just a few of the wonderful foods to sample at the Zena Foods booth. Check out the avocado cilantro hummus paired with some fresh-baked pita bread—so refreshing on a sunny afternoon!

If the warm weather is getting to you, swing by Lily’s Fresh Fruit Stand, where you can get iced fresh fruit in cups, to snack on as you browse the produce isles. Lily’s also offers churros and chicharrones (those tasty wagon wheel-shaped snacks).

Another destination for a crunchy snack is the fresh-popped Kettle Corn booth. These guys stand over a huge, hot kettle, stirring the sweet corn mixture until it pops to perfection. It’s fun to watch, and even more fun, to eat.

The booths mentioned above are only a small sampling of the variety of foods offered at the Watsonville Certified Farmers Market. Whole BBQ chickens, tamales, burgers and fries, and tacos can all be found among the booths at this bustling market. With the longer daylight hours, mild, pleasant weather and a beautiful park setting perfect for a picnic, dining at the Watsonville Certified Farmers Market sounds like Friday’s dinner plan!
