New Mural Showcases Public Art In Watsonville

The weekend effort beautified an alley off Sudden Street.

A group of Watsonville residents launched the Mural Alleyway Project over Labor Day Weekend by painting a graffiti-prone fence off Sudden Street near Palm Avenue.

Here's a description of the effort from Daniel Dodge Jr., son of Watsonville City Councilman Daniel Dodge and one of the mural organizers:

"It is a project to bring art to our back to our community! We will be painting murals in allies here in the city of Watsonville."

Here's a YouTube video showing the full mural shared by Paul DeWorken, of Monterey Bay Murals.

Volunteers spent two full days painting the fence, even covering up graffiti that appeared after the first day of work. The group hopes to paint more alleys in Watsonville in the coming months.
