Shiny boots and pressed uniforms were center stage at the annual maneuvers.

Watsonville police shone at the annual police inspection Wednesday morning at .

The Guest Inspector was Chief Camerino Sanchez of the Santa Barbara Police Department. Brittany Nielsen, KSBW Channel 8 News Anchor, was Master of Ceremonies.

Nielsen, who attended Green Valley's school as a child, told the crowd of family, friends and community members she is proud of the Watsonville police force.

"I'm always really impressed by the work they do and the way they do it," she said.

Watsonville Police Chief Manny Solano said his department emphasizes character over achievement. Several officers were honored at the inspection ceremony.

Nielsen noted that she normally sees police officers after a serious crime has been committed when the focus is not on the officers' character, but on the emergency at hand.

"But today is not a day for that," she said. "Today is a day to honor the work done day in and day out when the news shows up and, more often, when it doesn't."

Also, several local business owners and police volunteers were honored for their support of the police department.

Its a great poluce department that is trye vut i do nit agree with its fine"" leader.. tgat chuef manny solani is the sole responsible person whi has made droppdd the morale kf the deoartment so bad....his egitisticlack of true character is harming the departmenf.he only looks out for himself n does not care abiyt no one except himself..just look at tge majir increase in crjme sjnce he took over n look at the lack of work the officer have dobe but the only thing that has increased is his paycheck and his big ego..the cops need a true leader wuth true character n not one lacking characfer.what a joke he is...!!!!!!
