Police Donate to Project Pajamas

Project Pajamas serves youth in foster care, transitional housing and homeless shelters.

A program that has provided a bit of warmth and comfort to children in need for the past five years got a donation from Watsonville law enforcement Saturday.

Officer Matt Williams delivered 30 sets of pajamas to the Project Pajamas at Twin Lakes Church. The donation, compliments of the Watsonville Police Officers Assoc, Watsonville Police Assistance Fund and a generous discount from the Watsonville Target store, is a small part of an effort to provide pajamas to needy kids in Santa Cruz County.

Judge Ariadne Symons launched Project Pajamas in 2007 and, since then, the program has donated more than 4,000 pairs of pajamas to Santa Cruz County children in need. That includes homeless children living in shelters, youth in foster care and those in transitional housing.

The church collects the new pajamas every October, packages them and donates them to agencies throughout the county.
