Puppies, Kittens, Bunnies All Half Off

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is brimming with adoptable animals, so adoptions fees are 50 percent off this month.

Do you want the good half or the bad half? Head or tail?

Just kidding. You can adopt an entire new pet, and for half off the cost of adoption through the end of the month. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is experiencing an overload of animals at the shelters and is desperate to find forever homes for adoptable animals.

Adopting out animals helps open up space at their open-admission shelter for other animals that need Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter’s help.

  • One of the best is that shelter animals make great pets. Many have already lived with a human family and have the basic training, socialization and cooperative skills they need to become part of your household.
  • And many, but not all, of shelter animals have the advantage of being mixed-breed animals that use what geneticists call “hybrid vigor” to avoid some of the health issues of purebred animals.
  • Shelter animals are also quite a bargain since their fees include spay/neuter, microchip (including registration), age appropriate vaccinations and Felv/FIV testing, routine treatment for fleas/worms, and a free pet wellness exam with local participating veterinarians.

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter are located at 2200 7th Ave. in Santa Cruz and 580 Airport Blvd. in Watsonville. Also check out the pets featured on the shelter website, www.scanimalshelter.org.
