There Are Jobs

Yes, unemployment has been high, but there's still work to be had out there.

While the fields provide a ton of jobs for Watsonville residents, there are other openings out there. A few of these employment opportunities even offer benefits like insurance, a retirement plan or tuition assistance. But if you're just looking for something part time, check out the tutoring job or the city's opening for sports refs.

  • A Watsonville student is looking for an Algebra 1 tutor. The boy is trying to master his elementary algebra class. Become a WyzAnt tutor through this website, then set an hourly rate, create a schedule and tutor students in a variety of subjects.
  • Granite Construction is hiring a proposal manager to supervise and coordinate Granite’s proposal preparation personnel and process to ensure winning proposals. A successful applicant will have a bachelor’s degree—preferably in marketing, communications, journalism or a similar field—as well as seven years professional experience in technical writing and proposal preparation, a background in supervising or coordinating personnel and familiarity with construction or engineering proposal preparation.   • High Ground Organics needs a driver to deliver boxes of organic vegetables two days a week from March 16 to Nov. 17. Candidate should be reliable, have a clean driving record and be comfortable driving a box truck, but no special license is required. A fair amount of lifting is involved. Delivery days are Wednesday and Thursday, with a total of about 16 hours per week. Additional work at the farm on other days may be a possibility. The job, catalogued as a temporary, part-time position, pays $20 per game and offers more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Interested applicants should be able to execute job requirements, such as explaining or enforcing rules as a referee, settling disputes, maintaining a safe play environment and attending meetings.
