Watermelon Takes Center Stage At July 4th & Summer Parties

Posted by Janine Vairo

Watermelon is so delicious and so sweet. This incredibe Summer fruit has a high water content and is also a good source of Vitamins A and C as well as potassium and lycopene, an antioxidant known to help in the fight against heart disease and several cancers. In addition to being good for you, it is pretty rare to find someone who doesn't like watermelon...so it's always sure to be a hit when you have a crowd to please.

I would like to share some great watermelon ideas for your next Summer gathering or party. They are all very delicous and creative. Instead of just slicing watermelon up and serving it on a plate with the usual dessert or in a fruit salad, try making a delicious watermerlon cooler that is served in a watermelon keg. It is easier than you think. You will need to order the Spigot online.

See below and click on the links for the recipes and directions.

Watermelon Keg

Vodka Watermelon Cooler

Zesty Watermelon Salsa

Watermelon Cups with Feta and Mint

I hope you try some of these recipes. The watermelon cooler, keg to serve it in, the yummy salsa and feta appetizer squares are all so refreshing, festive and perfect with the hot and humid weather we have had recently. Enjoy!

Your mouth-watering post reminded me tell everyone in Santa Cruz that the Scotts Valley Rotary Club serves free watermelon to all at the SV July 4th Fireworks show. A fun community service!
