Summer changes how people eat, with an influx of fresh fruits and vegetables, hankerings for lighter meals and refreshing drinks.

Understandably, then, it's common for restaurants to alter their offerings and make other switches when days get longer.

Here are some of the changes happening at Watsonville restaurants lately:

  • The Fish House and Roc's Cupcakes opened their doors. The Fish House is in the most-recent Green Valley Grill location, on Main Street next to the Cowboy Corner Cafe. Roc's is in the Nob Hill complex, also on Main Street.
  • Props, the restaurant at the Watsonville Municipal Airport, officially changed its name to "Props Restaurant & Flight Line Lounge" and rolled out a spring/summer menu. It also has new nightly specials, such as Sunday Fried Chicken dinner, Monday BBQ Ribs, Tuesday Chicken Fried Steak, Wednesday Prime Rib and Thursday Surf & Turf.
  • The California Grill got a great write-up by Sentinel food reviewer Ann Parker recently. The Freedom Boulevard diner changed hands last year and is now owned by organic grower Dick Peixoto and his daughter Ashley.
