Get Out in Watsonville: Car Races, a High School Reunion and Plenty of Fourth of July Frenzy

A high school class celebrates a 20th anniversary while the rest of the town starts celebrating Independence Day with parades, fireworks and more.

Where/When: , 2601 E Lake Ave., Friday, 6 p.m., Saturday, 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Ocean Speedways kicks off the July 4th weekend with two days of car racing and fireworks, too, when the Howard Kaeding Classic races are over. Friday features 410 Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bangers and Hardtops. Saturday is all about 410 Sprint Cars and American Stock Cars.

Pricing: Adults, $20; Kids 6-12, $15 ; Kids 5 and under, free; Seniors, $18; A famiy of four, $60.

Why Go:  Churchgoers can attend services first, but then it gets yummy. A delicious brunch; not just the pancakes, but scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice and fruit as well.

Pricing; A $2 donation 

Where/When: Downtown on Main Street, Monday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Join in the spirt of the nation and of Watsonville on the Fourth of July. See the parade and maybe even participate in it. Former Watsonville police chief Terry Medina is the grand marshall for the city's annual Hometown Parade. So start thinking red, white and blue!

Pricing: Free 

Where/When: Kula Ranch Restaurant 3295 Dunes Rd, Marina, Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Why Go: Obviously, this item is just for the WHS graduating class of 1991. But we think it's cool, so wanted to get all of you thinking about your reunions. And if you are part of this class and haven't signed up, it's not too late to go.

Pricing: $75.

Where/When: , 1934 Main St., Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Why Go: If you like Mariachi, go no further than Cilantro's this Friday night. Dance to the sound of Mariachi Imperial and then switch over to the selections of DJ Showbiz. He'll mix it up with Latin, Hip-Hop and more.
