Get Out in Watsonville: Latin Dancing, Wetlands Walking and Mountain Biking

Take some Latin dance classes, walk through the wetlands or check out the mountain bike festival—just some of the Watsonville Patch suggestions for you when you 'Get Out' this week.

Why Go: If you like Latin music and Latin music, you should check out Cilantro's on a Saturday night. Free Latin dance classes salsa, bachata, chacha and merengue, and then the music starts—y si se puede bailar—yes, you can dance!

Why Go: Get some tips about safe banking and protecting your identity at this event hosted by bank manager Sahin Gunsel. Appetizers accompany the talk. Learn how you can do safe banking. RSVP at 831-588-6312.

Where/When: 6500 Soquel Dr., Aptos (Crocker Main Theater at Cabrillo College), Saturday, Sunday, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: You will get to see Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre's presentation of "Handel with Care" that also features world premieres choreographed by artistic director, Robert Kelley, and guest artist, Nolan T’Sani.

Where/When: , 500 Harkins Slough Rd., Saturday, 10 a.m. 

Why Go: Watsonville Wetlands Watch is behind these wetlands tours. Its guides will take you out on a one-hour walk to see firsthand the birds, plants and wildlife of the Watsonville sloughs. The guides will even loan you binoculars for the walk.

Pricing: Free, but reservations required 48 hours in advance.

Where/When: 2400 Chanticleer Ave., Santa Cruz, (Barry Swenson Property Builders), Saturday and Sunday, all day. 

Why Go: If you are a mountain biker or think you might want to become one, you will get more than your fill of activities around mountain biking this weekend. There will be professional and amateur jump competitions, short track races, bike skill clinics and more. An expo runs both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the 2011 event will be dedicated to a permanent bike park in Aptos.
