Get Out in Watsonville: Peace March, Soccer and Halloween Fun

There are some big events this weekend in Watsonville.

Where/When: , W Beach St & Main St, Watsonville; Saturday 12 p.m.

Why Go: This event will honor local residents who lost their lives through gang and street violence. A peace ceremony will begin at noon at City Plaza. Community leaders and families who violence victims will be addressing the crowd. It will be followed by a march at 1 p.m. through Watsonville's streets.

Where/When: , Peck St & Main St, Watsonville; Friday 2:30 pm

Why Go: It's the final Free For All of the year. Drop off gently used household items or stop by to pick up something new to you. Expect to find clothing, kitchenware and kids' items.

Cost: Free, like the title says.

Pre-Halloween Party

Where/When: 1301 Main St, Watsonville, Friday 5-7 p.m.

Why Go: Get a jump on your Halloween celebration by attending the party. Enjoy yummy treats, fun games and a costume contest.

Cost: Free.

Youth Soccer

Where/When: and , Saturday morning.

Why Go: Saturday is the last day of city's fall . Watch the little Peles and Mias compete on the field. It's cute and some of the kids are darn good!

Cost: Free.

Mi Casa Es Tu Casa Reception

Where/When: , 37 Sudden St, Watsonville; Sunday, 2-4 p.m.

Why Go: Mi Casa is an annual exhibit inspired by Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a traditional Mexican holiday in which people celebrate their ancestors and those who have passed away by constructing altars (ofrendas) in their homes to remember the dead. Since 1996, PVAC has been inviting the community into our “home” to build an altar to remember and celebrate those who they have lost.

Pumpkin Carving

Where/When: , 225 Sudden St, Watsonville; Monday 4-6 p.m.

Why Go: Why not? It's a seventh-annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest on Halloween. Sounds like a ghoul of a good time.
