You can't spell "Santana Row" without "Santa," but this Black Friday the San Jose shopping center has another idol making an appearance to launch the holiday shopping season.
James Durbin, the "American Idol" finalist from Santa Cruz, will kick off the shopping center's seventh annual One Warm Coat drive Friday, according to a Santana Row representative.
Those who wish to donate new or gently used coats can do so at the Oak Tree Lounge in front of Pinkberry on Friday. In return for shoppers' generosity, the shopping center is offering complimentary lawn chairs bearing the Santana Row logo.
Durbin will also be signing copies of his new album "Memories of a Beautiful Disaster" and, with the center's 40-foot holiday tree as a backdrop, will perform a live acoustic set at noon in Santana Row Park.
Stores in the shopping center will open as early as 3 a.m. More information about special Black Friday deals and store events can be found at www.santanarow.com.
