March to End Child Abuse: One Thing to Do in Watsonville This Weekend

Watsonville Patch suggestions for things to do in and around Watsonville this weekend. This weekend we highlight the march to end child abuse. Go ahead and Get Out!

Where/When:, West Beach and Main streets, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month. The Centers for Disease Control says "one out of three girls and one out of six boys experience some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18." It is a problem. Besides the march, there will be speakers and children-friendly activities. Show you care and be there.

Where/When: The Lodge on the Corner, 121 Martinelli St., Saturday, 6-11 p.m.

Why Go:  To have a good time and to eat calamari. And support the event.

Pricing: $18; $10 for 12 and under

Where/When: , 1934 Main St., Watsonville, Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.

Why Go: If you want to get out for lunch or dinner on a Sunday, you can go to Cilantros and get music and entertainment along with your meal. Listen to music by Trio over lunch. In the evening, from 6-8 p.m., Doug the Surfing Magician performs.

Pricing: The cost of your meal

Where/When: 705 Front St., Santa Cruz, (Museum of Art & History), Friday.

Why Go: The first Friday of the month is free all day, and in the evening there is a reception with light refreshments, with the museum staying open until 9 p.m. And three new exhibits have just opened, so all-around, heading to the museum this Friday is a win-win.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: North Almaden Avenue and West Saint John Street, San Jose, Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Are you kidding? Food truck food is our latest Northern California trend. And there will be at least 20 trucks there offering all kinds of food. Lunch will be served (11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and dinner (5-9 p.m.). With so many choices, perhaps you want to try lunch and dinner!
