'Peace in Our Streets' Moves Indoors for Winter

The public art display will segue into its second phase with a writing project at the library this winter.

The Inside Out Project artwork was removed from the walls of downtown buildings Sunday.

"Peace in Our Streets: You Only Live Once" brought five Watsonville schools together to create nearly 100 posters featuring students. The Pajaro Valley Arts Council sponsored the project.

The second phase of the project will start after Thanksgiving, as PVAC launches a writing program at the public library. It will consist of 6 x 9 inch postcards, featuring some of the faces already familiar from the street posters and instructions in English and Spanish to write down personal stories of "The Ville"—stories from the streets of Watsonville.

PVAC hopes to create a book containing photographs of the faces of Watsonville and stories of whatth the city means to its people.

There will be Peace In Our Streets Writing Stations at the Watsonville Public Library, Watsonville Campus of Cabrillo College, the YMCA, the Adult Education School, and PVAC hopes to spread this project out into the Senior Centers and other locations to gather as many stories of Watsonville from as diverse a population as possible.
