Photo of the Day: Pacific Avenue Artist Sells Art for Free

Donations are "gladly" accepted, and the art is quality.

Alex Skelton is becoming a familiar feature of the Pacific Avenue art scene, only he's a bit different than the rest: Skelton gives his art away for free.

A sign reads "donations gladly accepted," and it turns out most people are compelled to leave him a donation, he said.

Probably because they're not just crappy doodles, but unique, colorful drawings that he clearly spends quite a bit of time on. Even though he isn't asking an arm and a leg for his art, his art could be worth an appendage or two someday.

Next time you're on Pacific Avenue, keep an eye out for this guy, and kick him down a donation, will ya?

Skelton's sign reads:

Warning: Art is an Addictive Substance.

Withdrawal symptoms can include but are not limited to: rapid synapse decomposition, a sense of total apathy, profuse sweating, glandular malfunction, nausea, oversleeping, Weight loss and/or gain, faith in politicians, social anxiety, handover-willpower syndrome, quote en quote squareness, non-localized cramping, spasms, or seizing, the downward spiral etc...

This was such a lovely presentation and the warning he posted put the biggest smile upon my face: A disclaimer stating art would change so many things, and then listed them. Thank you for sharing this, It spoke to me too! artdujour founder, Christine Currie
