Sculpture IS the Centerpiece in This Garden

Sierra Azul Nursery hosts a reception this weekend for its annual outdoor art exhibition.

Ditch the pink flamingos and bird baths as garden décor. Instead, gaze on the 130 pieces that compose this year's Sculpture IS show at  in Watsonville.

The sculptures—from small, glass-blown birds to 20-foot-tall kinetic pieces—are made by 56 artists from Humboldt County to San Luis Obispo. Their works are made of steel, wood, ceramics, bronze, glass and concrete.

And they're all on display in Sierra Azul's 2-acre Mediterranean garden.

The sixth annual exhibit, put on by the Pajaro Valley Arts Council, will have its opening reception from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. It's a week later than planned, thanks to last weekend's downpour, but the same great music, refreshments and food, by Watsonville's Cafe Ella, will be on-hand.

The show is open through October, if you can't make Saturday's event.
