View Finder: Quilts Unfold Their Stories

The Pajaro Valley Quilt Association's 33rd annual Quilt Show showcases hundreds of handmade works.

The Pajaro Valley Quilt Association put on its 33rd Annual Quilt show at the at the end of February. The show featured 400 beautiful quilts along with fabric and needle arts by local artists.

This was my very first quilt show. It was pretty amazing to see so many colorful and decorative quilts with countless hours of work put into them. The exact detail and skill needed to make quilts of this quality would make anyone's hands cramp. I learned that not all quilts are intended for use as bedding. Some are used as wall hangings, table runners or tablecloths.

For those interested in learning more or getting connected with local quilters, the quilt association meets regularly. Its next gathering is Monday at Beth-El Jewish Community Center, 3055 Porter Gulch Rd. (at Soquel Drive) in Aptos. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7.
