Police Find 3 Lbs of Meth in Watsonville Home

Two brothers were arrested Thursday for allegedly selling drugs.

Two Watsonville brothers were arrested Thursday after a traffic stop for a mechanical violation mushroomed into one of the largest drug investigations in the city this year.

Jose Luis Fernandez, 28, and Marco Antonio Fernandez, 20, were in a silver Mercedes Benz when they were pulled over around 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Madison and East High streets, police reported. The older brother was under court supervision so his vehicle was searched.

Officers found two ounces of crystal methamphetamine in a hidden compartment and about $3,500 cash, police said. Both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale.

Later, officers searched the Arbol Drive home where the brothers live with other family members, including children. There, they discovered a handgun, more than 3 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and $2,000 cash, police reported.

The brothers now face additional drug and weapons charges, police said.
