Last Chance: Deadlines You Don't Want to Miss in Watsonville

There's some Parks and Community Services Department programs with sign up deadlines this week.

We all do it. Forget to mark our calendars for upcoming soccer league sign-ups, prom tickets or local business expos. There are so many events and opportunities in Watsonville that is can be hard to keep tabs on them all.

Fortunately, Patch is here to help track some of those important deadlines. The following is a list of deadlines coming up. Take a look before it's your last chance!

ARTS/MUSIC

Alternative Photo Art: Class participants will learn to use images from magazines, books and other printed materials to make works of art in this class for kids ages 12-15. Bring favorite magazines to the Callaghan Park Cultural Center for this Tuesday evening class. Cost is $60 for city residents and $66 for non residents. There also is a $15 materials fee. Registration by Tuesday, April 3. To register, contact customer service at 768-3240.

Junk Into Art: In this class, kids ages 8-12 will turn common materials often thrown into the garbage into wonderful works of art. Make wallets out of magazines, sculpture out of trash, quilt squares out of recycled plastic and more at the Callaghan Park Cultural Center. Cost is $60 for city residents and $66 for non residents. There also is a $10 materials fee. Registration ends Tuesday, April 3. To register, contact customer service at 768-3240.

Crafts from Around the World: Create different crafts from around the world in this Parks and Community Services Department program at Callaghan Park Cultural Center. Each week participants (kids ages 7-10) will “visit” a different part of the world, learn about the crafts made there and will take home a completed project each day. The session runs April 19-May 24 and class is 4-5 p.m. Cost is $60 for city residents and $66 for non residents. There also is a $10 materials fee. Registration ends Thursday, April 5. TRAVEL

Golden Gate Field Horse Races: Join this Traveling Thursdays program to the horse races at Golden Gate Field in Berkeley. It's open to the 50-plus crowd. Cost is $75 for residents and $81 for non residents. A lunch buffet is included. Register by April 5. To register, contact customer service at 768-3240.

HIGHER EDUCATION

Students graduating high school in spring 2012 and planning to apply for the for fall semester 2012 must complete their applications and submit all necessary documents by April 5.
