That's what I was going to say Susan. In fact, the sandwich in that picture sure looks like a Wooden Nickel sandwich...maybe not, I don't see the little square of chocolate cake. I vote for Wooden Nickel!

Yes it does! How could anyone forget those guys! You get a huge serving for a good price, the waitresses, bartenders, all the help is great..service is terrific...I noticed no choco cake in the picture either.. (:

What about monterey bay caterers. They have great sabdwiches. Yet I find myself getting sandwiches at casserly market quite frequently. They are probably the cheapest in town. The meats are cut fresh, the jalapeno spread is great and I'm always full after.

Brandon, I've always wanted to try MBC but they're only open Monday-Friday. Too bad they don't have Saturday hours.

Sorry but you left out the Wooden Nickel...they have my vote!

OK, we've added in Wooden Nickel and MBC so you can vote for your favorites. All this sandwich talk is making me hungry ...

You are missing serveral places, Pozzos Pizza and Deli at Plaza Vigil, Second Street Cafe and Cafe Ela some other may be out my radar at this point

Carmen, got 'em all added. Thanks for the input! I don't know how I missed Second Street Cafe -- I'm hooked on their tuna melt.

I like wooden knickel too. but dollar for dollar i gotta go with freedom meat lockers when it comes to beef sandwiches and swingtime when it comes to their turkey cranberry

I've never been to Wooden Nickel since I do not like ridiculously large portions. In my opinion, as far as quality Cafe Ella's sandwiches rule. The Pavo Mio, The Local, The Greener Me and The Messy Hot Pastrami are definitely winners. The best, freshest ingredients and just the right size.

Cafe Ella rocks! Not only is their food and service great, but businesses such as theirs really help to make Watsonville a better place to live.
