Also, a Watsonville-based janitorial company rated high in listing of fastest-growing businesses.

There are business developments in Watsonville every day. Here are some recent highlights:

  • Watsonville Airport staff told Patch that plans to open Monday, Aug. 27. The new airport restaurant was slated to start serving customers earlier in the summer, but got hung up in some red tape. That's all behind owner Andrew Crocker now and Props should open next week. There even is a planned for Thursday, Aug. 30.
  • A new Papa John's under construction in the Pajaro Plaza shopping center at Main Street and South Green Valley Road. No word yet on the date the pizzeria will open, though the Register Pajaronian has reported it should be befoe the end of the month. When the restaurant does start baking pizzas, it will be the first Papa John's in the county.
  • , a janitorial service in Watsonville, made Inc. magazine's list of the 5,000 fast-growing companies in the United States. The company provides cleaning and other facility maintenance services for commercial, industrial and office buildings, and has other locations around the country.  Watsonville's Economic Development Manager Kurt Overmeyer said "they employ a number of people in Watsonville!"

I went to Props Monday night. It was packed. Nice menu, good fries, friendly service, nice job redecorating.

Wasn't there a Papa John's in the shopping center between Kmart and Walgreen's -close to the old Blockbuster - sometime back? For some reason I am remembering them there ... could be wrong. Anyone else remember that? Looking forward to trying Props too.

Yes, I also remember them in that location.

That was Papa Murphy's, where you'd buy the pizza and bake it yourself.

Oh Good, I've missed them..

@Tony: Papa Murphy's, yes, thanks, I thought I was going senile there for a minute!

Yes, I've heard there was a "soft opening" but the big day will be Monday. It looks great inside - vintage airplane pieces and some of the original stained glass. The outdoor patio will be awesome, especially for the Air Show.

Can't support Papa John's. I vote with my wallet and Papa Johns is on the wrong side of the aisle.

@Erok Orgell: I've read about that too http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/papa-johns-john-schnatter-obamacare-pizza-prices/story?id=16962891

I'm totally willing to pay 14 cents more for a pizza so that more members of my community can have health insurance, but I don't support Obamacare.

With that said, I love pizza but kinda wish the city council would stop approving these big chain fast food joints. So many great small time pizza joints in north county and Monterey, it woulda been nice if that space were occupied by something like a Pleasure Pizza, Giannis, or even Woodstocks (which is a chain, but a fairly small one).

I will not be a customer either.

Papa John's will not have my business either because of their wacko politics. Besides, Cafe Ella makes much better pizza.

I'm a fan of Papa John's. It's good pizza that can be delivered an wont break the bank. Better than Little Caesars.

Wow

I am ever so disappointed! I love papa johns pizza! Papa John knows pizza, but here in watsonville it has the name but unfortunately its not papa johns pizza! Their crust looks like dominos with the cheese all over the crust hardly any toppings or cheese. Will drive else where from now on! Who ever the owner is should have named it after them!
