Get Out in Watsonville: A Tri-Tip BBQ, Pirates and More

Pirates Invade Casa de Fruta, Watsonville High Football kicks off league play and the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts a mixer.

Where/When: 500 Westridge Dr, Watsonville, CA. Friday, 3-6 p.m. 

Why Go: A Tri-Tip BBQ to benifit the Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services will take place on Friday at West Marine on 500 Westridge Dr. in Watsonville. Cost is $8. Tickets can be purchased by calling 831-728-2700. Take an hour out of your Friday and come support the fight against cancer.

Bring your usual stack of business cards and a friend this week.

Why Go: Watch a real professional rodeo while supporting youth activities in Santa Cruz County. The sheriff's rodeo is a benefit for area nonprofits that work with kids.

Where/When: , 250 E Beach St, Watsonville, CA. Friday, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The Watsonville High football team squares off against North Monterey County this Friday night in both teams Monterey Bay League opener at Watsonville High. Watsonville lost three of four in non-league play, all to teams playing in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League. The Wildcatz fell 41-21 to defending SCCAL champ San Lorenzo Valley last Friday. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Watsonville High.

Where/When: Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy, Hollister, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Beware of pirates invading the village of Willingtown. Sir Francis Drake is looking for new crew members. Children 7 and under can meet the Queen and Captain Drake in the annual wee pirate costume contest at the Renaissance Faire in Casa de Fruta. The annual faire runs for the next three weekends.
