New Restaurant Needs Name Suggestions

The Beach Street business will be named by a citizen of Watsonville. Give your ideas in the comments.

A brand new restaurant is opening in early February on the bottom floor of the Pajaro Wall Street Inn, 30 West Beach Street in Watsonville.

There will be plenty to say about the restaurant once it opens, but for now we don't even know its name. That's because it doesn't have one yet. It is waiting for your ideas.

What we do know is this: the menu will include pizza, wings, burgers, classic breakfast options and a variety of dinner entrees.

Abdol Novin, the owner, wants the restaurant to truly be part of the community, so he's taking suggestions for the name.

The person who comes up with the winning name will get a free dinner on opening night.

Suggestions can be submitted by mail to 825 Walker Street, Watsonville, CA 95076 (offices of the owner), by e-mail to abenovin@yahoo.com or by fax to 831 768 1683.

What should the restaurant be called? Have any great ideas? Tell us in the comments!

Until we do something about the violence downtown, I don't know who is going to frequent it or any other business (restaurant or otherwise). When we get that under control, a lot more businesses will invest in us.

I live and work in Watsonville. I don't read the Pajaronian...I read the Patch.

I don't think it should be a spanish name.. Otherwise it's not going to attrack everyone...

There's already a Beach Street Diner. It's geared mostly for the truckers who park on Beach Street near the intersection of Walker and Beach. The new restaurant will be located in a historic building and should reflect that (in my opinion). Nope! Don't have a suggestion... yet.

Ok this is Margarita Cortez of Loaves and Fishes idea for a new name. This could be the winner. TICKER TAPE Cafe

Agreed Angela.

Maybe something like "The Appleton Inn", "Appleton Bistro", "Cafe Appleton", etc. to touch on the buildings original name? Or perhaps "Beach Street Pit Stop" or "The Pit Stop", since it's across from an Autoparts store, the Bus depot, and on your way to the beach.

Since the Wall Street Inn formally opened in August 1912 as the Hotel Appleton, then it would be great to have Apple somewhere in its name to establish the historical link with its glory days. Applebee's got lucky having its existing corporate name fit, and there's already Red Apple. How about just keeping it simple and direct: Cafe Appleton.

I also think a bike themed eatery with ample bike racks and classy vintage cycling decor that everyone can enjoy would work out well in Watsonville and bring in a lot of cycle tourists from the nearby campgrounds and other SC county residents who love to drive down to Watsonville and Corralitos for their weekend back roads rides. Perhaps "Sprockets" or "Cog and Chain".

Watzon: Near simultaneous suggestions of Cafe Appleton by us. Another instance of great minds thinking alike, or are we just masters of the obvious?

Ticker Tape? Nah that would probably put the restaurant out of business quickly, not that the location wont do that though. No one is parking in the CVS lot and walking over to the restaurant. However a couple of names I think would be good: The Ville Watz Downtown (Get it?) Watz I would say that Beach Street could be in the title but it's not really on Beach Street.

"Muggins" would be fitting for downtown.
Cathy P. February 04, 2013 at 08:39 PM
I still like "Ticker Tape Cafe," I'd even add the owner's name Novin to it for further recognition "Novin's Ticker Tape Cafe." Ticker Tape evokes parades, celebrations, parties, people having fun together, happy times.
