Yogurtland Opens Wednesday

The dessert shop is the latest in a string of new restaurants in Watsonville.

Yogurtland will swirl its first sundae Wednesday evening, fulfilling an appetite many Watsonville residents have had for a long time.

The is located in Target shopping center on Main Street and Ohlone Parkway. It opens at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, though people have been popping in for weeks hoping the shop is doing business.

"It's been overwhelming," owner Brian Dueck said of the community response to the new shop. "We feel like we may even be busier here than in Capitola."

Dueck and his brother, Kevin, own the franchise. Their first Yogurtland shop is in Capitola, near the mall. The Duecks hired 18 employees for the Watsonville shop.

Yogurtlland will be offering free 5-ounce yogurts Wednesday evening only to celebrate the opening.

The new Yogurtland is one of several restaurants to join the Watsonville food scene this summer.

  • a week ago in the Watsonville Airport.
  • Another pair of brothers started on First Street.
  • is coming to the Pajaro Plaza.
  • will make a comeback this fall.
  • Just north of town, started serving up BBQ in Aptos.

The new Yogurtland will have a shaded outdoor patio area and offer a full complement of yogurt flavors and topping options. Dueck said Plain Tart is the nationwide favorite, but Chocolate Milkshake is more popular locally. Blood Orange is a new flavor.

"It's really good," Dueck said of the citrus yogurt. "I've tasted it."

Will you go to the new Yogurtland? Why or why not?

I used my yes on T flier to line the birdcage. It pissed my parrot off so much, he bit me!

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
