Stop & Think Before You Drink

The tragic story of a bride killed on her wedding day should convince you to call a cab.

With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, I wanted to share a true story I recently read. It brought tears to my eyes.

A woman named Melinda Moros told the story about her cousin Gayle and her new husband, Al, who were driving home from their wedding reception in the early morning when their car was rammed by a drunk driver running a red light. Gayle was still in her wedding gown when she was pronounced dead at the scene. The gruesome nature of her death became front-page news. Photos of her bridal veil, still trapped in the wreckage, were highlighted in the media. Al was taken to the hospital with multiple serious injuries. The drunken driver's blood alcohol level was 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

As DUIs continue to plague our community, one more innocent life lost is one too many. Don't you or a loved one be next. Have a happy, safe St. Paddy's Day.
