Carey-Davis Neighborhood Spring Cleanup

Carey-Davis Neighborhood Spring Cleanup Event. Neighbors gather to cleanup their streets in preparation to Memorial Day Holiday.

Saturday May, 26 2012, between 9 a.m. and noon the Carey-Davis neighborhood residents got together to hold their annual Neighborhood Spring Cleanup event.  The participating residents come from the Jehl, Sydney, Davis, Carey, Landis, Hillside, Casillas, Nona, Whitney, and Roache Rd and finally other past residents who enjoy coming to their old neighborhood to enjoy a good time with neighbors. This year the ammount of garbage was minimal but the main focus was collecting recyclables which turned out to be more than actual garbage. In this year's efforts the residents helped reduce the ammount of plastic used by using buckets to collect trash and recyclable materials, therefore, using less plastic bags for the clean up. After the residents covered the area starting from Davis Ave Carey, Landis, and Carey across Green Valley onto Roache Rd, they returned to the Neighborhood Services site on 37 Davis Ave., the point of origin, once there they enjoyed refrehsments and hot dogs for lunch.

Events like these continue to foster healthy neighbor to neighbor bonds and instills pride in residents when they see how a cleanup can change the outlook of their neighborhood. The event was Sponsored by the City of Watsonville Neighborhood Services Division and the Public Works and Utilities Deparment.

If you have any questions regarding this event, future or similar events or would like to organize a cleanup in your neighborhood please feel free to contact the Neighborhood Services Division to receive more information at (831) 763-5678.
