Participants will engage in hands-on training providing parents with strategies to play a more active role in their child’s life, both in and outside of school. Community resources will be provided to help promote pro-social activities for adolescents, and prevent children from becoming involved in gangs, drugs, and alcohol abuse. This training was provided to members of the community at no cost last year and it has proven to be very successful. A series of four workshops will be given on: November 5th, November 12th, November 19th and November 26th from 6:15-8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Rolling Hills Middle School. Please check out our website for details on the workshop topics: http://cityofwatsonville.org/city-of-watsonville/unidos-salimos-adelante.

Watsonville Police and Fire offer Important Holiday Safety Tips

It’s important to keep safety in mind during the holiday season. According to the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Thanksgiving is the leading day of the year for home fires involving cooking equipment. Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking so you can keep an eye on the stove. When it gets cold, remember to keep gas or charcoal grills outdoors. When using a fireplace, open the flue for adequate ventilation. Never use your oven to heat your home. Check out our website for a full list of safety tips: http://cityofwatsonville.org/city-of-watsonville/watsonville-police-and-fire-offer-important-holiday-safety-tips.
