Earthquake Recap: Five Quakes Shake Santa Cruz County

A handful of earthquakes hit just offshore this week.

Five small earthquakes made waves on the Richter scale around Santa Cruz County this week, with the largest measured at 2.8, four miles SE of Aromas. 

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Sunday evening, 10 people reported feeling the 2.8 earthquake on the U.S. Geological Survey website, including one person from Watsonville and one from Castroville.
