Enjoy Thanksgiving Festivities in Watsonville

There is a charity flag football game in the morning and free dinners this afternoon.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, but it's also a chance to connect with your community and Watsonville offers several opportunities to do so Thursday.

Start at 8 a.m. with the fourth annual Watsonville Turkey Bowl, a seven-on-seven charity flag football game at Rolling Hills Middle School.

Watch former high school stars and groups of friends take the field for a bit of fun and exercise before the big holiday meal. The tournament also is a benefit for Second Harvest Food Bank this year.

The Loaves and Fishes meal is also at noon. Both are free.

Also, for those interested in volunteering, both dinners are accepting extra help. Volunteers at the Loaves and Fishes dinner are working two-hour shifts beginning at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon, or just stay all day. Swingtime Cafe volunteers serve the meal, starting at noon.
