Former Watsonville Sailor Cleared in 'To Catch A Predator' Sting

Joseph Roisman was arrested in Petaluma in 2006; a Sonoma County court cleared him Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man arrested five years ago during a sex crimes sting on the popular television show "To Catch A Predator" was acquitted of all charges Tuesday, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

Joseph Roisman of Watsonville was cleared of accusations he attempted to have sex with an online decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl from Petaluma. He was one of 29 men prosecuted for crimes from during a three-day sting facilitated by the NBC Dateline show and the online watchdog Perverted Justice.

At the time, Roisman was on leave from the Navy. He spent time in jail and was kicked out of the Service, the Press Democrat reported.

Tuesday, Sonoma County, Calif., Judge Arthur Wick threw out the case against Roisman, saying there was not enough evidence to move forward. The move came after six days of trial testimony, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

NBC did not respond to interview requests, several media sources reported.
