Photos: Space Shuttle Over the Monterey Bay

Endeavour took a victory lap around California Friday morning. Did you see it? Share photos here.

The Space Shuttle Endeavour started its golden years this week like many retirees—with travel.

It flew over the Monterey Bay about 10:45 a.m. Friday, wowing motorists in Satna Cruz who pulled over to watch the shuttle piggybacked on NASA's Shuttle Aircraft Carrier.

In neighborhoods, people ran into the street to try to capture the historic moment with their camera phones.

At Seacliff State Beach, school children on a field trip had a science lesson they'll always remember—watching the shuttle from the cliffs above the waves.

The really space-crazed among us headed to Moffet Field in Mountain View or Cannery Row in Monterey for up-close-and-personal views of the shuttle farewell tour.

Where do you watch the Space Shuttle Endeavour? Was it mind-blowing? Share your photos and video here.

Capitola, on Capitola Road just above Bay Avenue. I was at the Cook House when Carol, the owner, got word the Shuttle was on its way over the Santa Cruz Mountains. We all ran outside and waited and there it was above us, heading toward the Bay. It was low and slow and we all had time for a very good look at this historical craft. It was a moment in time none of us will ever forget.
