Potted Plants, Flowers and Fresh-Cut Bouquets

It's like a mini-nursery at the farmers market!

Late summer flowers—both potted and cut—house plants, and even veggies to plant in your garden. You can find all of these and more this week at the Watsonville Certified Farmers Market.

The market is a great place to pick up some fresh-cut flowers and bouquets to brighten up your table.

Ana Ruvalcaba of Ruvalcaba Nurseries is always stocked with the most beautiful, fresh flowers of the season. Sunflowers, Gerber daisies, hollyhocks and dahlias are just a few of the flowers available this time of year. And of course, roses, Ana’s specialty.

If you are interested in live flowers, check out the MacLellan Botanicals booth. MacLellan Botanicals offers beautiful, live orchids grown right here on the Central Coast.

You can find potted begonias, fuchsias, strawberries, tomato plants, live herbs like basil and rosemary, and even some house plants, at various stands throughout the market.

While flower shopping at the market, make sure to browse the fresh, locally grown produce available as well. Spinach, carrots, broccoli, squash, cucumbers, eggplant and mushrooms are all available at the market this week. In the fruit department, berries, stone fruit, oranges, lemons and grapefruit are abundant. And apple season is well on its way!

Shopping at the farmers market is a wonderful way to connect with your community, support local farmers, and eat seasonally.

The Watsonville Certified Farmers Market is held 3-7 pm every Friday on the corner of Peck and Main streets. The market is open rain or shine.
