Santa Cruz County Fair: Tuesday's Events

The county fair kicks off at noon Tuesday on East Lake Avenue outside Watsonville.

Here's the highlights for opening day, Tuesday.

  • It's Senior Day, so admission is just $4 for those 62 and older. Also, the second-annual Senior Contest is from 1-2 p.m. on the Amphitheater Lawn, and Rabobank is sponsoring a free ice cream social for seniors there.
  • The Farm Bureau BBQ is from noon-3 p.m. at Paddy Smith Park. That's also where the Apple Pie Baking Contest will be.
  • Check out the Gabilan Cutters' show at the Main Horseshow Arena at 2 p.m.
  • There will be Alaskan Racing Pigs on the Livestock Lawn at 2 and 4 p.m.
  • Don't miss the Tractor Parade at 6:30 p.m., held at Yesterday's Farm.
  • Rubber Biscuit, a Blues Brothers tribute band, performs on the Amphitheater Stage at 7:30 p.m.

Parking is $5 per car, so carpool and remember to bring cash. are on East Lake Avenue between Holohan and Casserly roads, north of Watsonville. You can't miss them.

The full list of events and exhibits is on the county fair website. The fair closes at 10 p.m. Tuesday and reopens at noon Wednesday.
