Santa Cruz County Fair: Wednesday is Kids Day

Admission is free for kids 11 and under all day; everyone else gets a discount for bringing three cans of food in the afternoon.

It's Day Two of the Santa Cruz County Fair, and that means it's Kids Day.

Children 11 and younger get in for free and there are kid-specific events planned, like educational projects, painting and a petting zoo. And it's kids night at the main horse arena.

Everyone else can get a discounted entry by donating three cans of food to between 1-4 p.m.

  • The 4-H and FFA Swine Show is on the Livestock Main Arena in the morning.
  • Local police dogs will do a demonstration at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. on the Amphitheater Stage.
  • Carnival rides open at 3 p.m.
  • Country music crooner Steve Holy will be on the main stage at 7:30 p.m.
  • Here's a video of the Alaskan Racing Pigs, which will be kicking up their hooves every day.

And you may not know, but you can win prizes just by attending the fair. If you have a smart phone, be on the lookout for "QR Codes" that you can scan (download the app). It will give  you access to information and different deals through out each day.
