Watsonville Neighborhoods Mapped by Wealth

A new website shows the median income of neighborhoods in Watsonville.

Watsonville is not a city of great wealth. It is a city of incredibly hardworking people, many of whom hold jobs that just a marginally livable wage.

Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks, a website that compiles American Community Survey data, has broken down every city in America by neighborhood and listed them all by average household income, and the results are quite interesting.

According to the site, the poorest area of Watsonville is along Main Street from its intersection with Freedom Boulevard down to East Riverside Drive and from Rodriguez Street to Lincoln Street. In this area, the median household income is $31,690.

The wealthiest area of Watsonville is the neighborhood surrounding Freedom Boulevard that includes Alta Vista Shopping Center and Pioneer Cemetery, where the median household income is $58,188. That area along with the neighborhood east of Freedom Boulevard and west of East Lake Avenue are the only sections of Watsonville where the median household income is within the survey's definition of middle class.

Middle class in California ranges between $53,000 to $67,000 according to the survey.

I used my yes on T flier to line the birdcage. It pissed my parrot off so much, he bit me!

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
