7th Annual WIC Breastfeeding Walk

Community Bridges Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is holding its 7th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk on Friday, August 9 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Watsonville Downtown Plaza, during the Watsonville Farmers’ Market. 

Community partners supporting health and nutrition will host activity booths. Participants include: Santa Cruz Bilingual Doulas, Employment Development Department, Head Start, Second Harvest Food Bank, “Healthy Breast Campaign”, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Central Coast Alliance for Health, Network for Healthy California, Planned Parenthood, The Santa Cruz Village Collective, Dientes, Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center, Birth Network of Santa Cruz County. 

Walkers will receive matching t-shirts with the message “Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers.” The Walk with take place on the streets of Watsonville and walkers will be chanting their favorite breastfeeding slogans.  There will also be a raffle for prizes, healthy food tasting and demonstrations, face painting, activities for children, poster making, social media photo booth and more. A local DJ will emcee the event.
