"Tasty: Everyone Has a Place at the Table"

"Tasty: Everyone Has a Place at the Table"
Location: Downtown Watsonville
Installation Date: February 15, 2014
9.30AM - 1.30PM
(We can use your help!)

PVAC was invited by the San Jose Museum of Art to participate, along with 30 community partners, in an exhibit interpreting the theme Around the Table which "celebrates and explores the role that food plays in our lives." Because our 2014 gallery calendar was already set, PVAC decided to do an outdoor, public project similar to Peace in Our Streets: You Only Live Once.

Under the direction of Jean Beebe, we are collaborating with Karen Lemon and her ROP photography classes to create 75+ large format posters of photographic images taken by students and teachers that interpret the exhibit title they selected Tasty: Everyone Has a Place at the Table. The exhibit will be temporarily mounted outdoors on city buildings. If you would like to help with the installation on February 15, please call PVAC office at 831-722-3062.

Karen Lemon, a professional photographer for over 20 years, has been an instructor of photography for the last six years through the Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program at Renaissance High School. Ms. Lemon and her students collaborated with PVAC in 2012 to present the public art project Peace in Our Streets: You Only Live Once, a part of the global Inside-Out Project.

The Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) provides students with the opportunity to acquire academic, career, and technical skills and to prepare for life-long learning and success in the changing workplace. Santa Cruz ROP offers 45 different courses with 135 sections at 23 locations including every comprehensive high school in the county. They provide tuition free career and technical education for over 3200 high school students.
