Get Some Action at the Youth Center

Check out this month's activities at the G.H.W.R. Youth Center!

Every month I will post the activities calendars for the , where I work, to let everyone know what we've got going on. I should have been doing this since I first started the blog, but it's better late than never! I hope you find the information useful and I hope your kids take advantage of all the things we offer.

This month's Highlight Activities:

4/6 Band Night - This is your chance to rock out with the local metal bands. Who knows, you might witness the next Metallica before they blow up and get famous! The event is for all ages, and it will be $5 at the door. No in's and out's. There will be a snack bar available.

4/11 Boot Camp IVPut your body to the test as Senior Recreation Leader, David offers his fourth installment of boot camp sessions. Challenge your friends to see which one of you is more fit and athletic.

4/20 Rock Band 3Wanna be a rock star? Well, here's your chance to see what you've got! Join your friends and start a virtual band. You can even learn how to play the songs with our new keyboard instrument.

Sunday, April 22nd - Day of the Child

Celebrate Earth Day at the annual "Day of the Child" event at Ramsay Park. The Parks and Community Services Department will be offering a variety of sports activities, arts and crafts, face painting, and jump houses! The event is free for all ages to enjoy.

Ongoing Activities/Classes:

Homework HelpThe Youth Center staff offers homework help as needed. They are willing to assist participants to the best of their ability.

Community Television Class for YouthYouth will learn how to use professional television equipment to create a TV show! The class meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Youth Center. This is a free class for ages 10-22.

Volunteer opportunities - The G.H.W.R. Youth Center is currently seeking volunteer guitar instructors to participate in teaching beginning and intermediate guitar lessons for the Guitars Not Guns program. It is an 8-10 week commitment.
